Placida Harbour Club
monthly minimum

The Placida Harbour Club is a beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained gated community that overlooks the ICW, Placida Harbor and its own protected boat basin. The complex has two heated pools, a large designer-furnished  clubhouse with fitness center, two lighted tennis courts plus a private ferry to Little Gasparilla Island and a seven mile stretch of truly unspoiled Gulf beach. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets from either the Placida Harbor point or from the beach at Little Gasparilla.

The hourly ferry leaves from the Placida Harbour boat basin and lands on Little Gasparilla at Placida Beach - a sister community. The beach is one of the last stretches of wild beach left on the west coast. There is also a remarkable and unique little chapel on the island, reminiscent of early family Spanish Floridian mission chapels. From November through May it is the site of very casual ecumenical services led by a remarkable local Catholic priest. The Sunday morning services are timed to coincide with the ferry schedule.

Placida Harbor/Gasparilla Sound is the fishing capital of southwest Florida. Tarpon season, from late April through August, has been attracting sport fishermen since the mid 19th century. Rumor has it that the tarpon congregate in Boca Grand Pass. But every month is another season for another species.  More than fifty fishing guides make their home in these waters and they can take you offshore, back country or inshore - flats fishing or sport fishing.

The Boca Grand causeway is two minutes south. Englewood is fifteen minutes north. Sarasota is 45 minutes north. Fort Myers is 45 minutes south. Tampa is 80 minutes north.

Lands End Complex
weekly minimum

Lands End occupies the whole tip of Treasure Island in the area known as Sunset Beach.  It is a low rise, perfectly landscaped and exceedingly well-maintained gated community with a gatehouse that is manned 24-hours a day. There is a large heated pool that overlooks the beach, two lighted tennis courts, two whirlpool spas, gazebos, volleyball, shuffleboard, barbeque grills, a club house, boardwalks to the beach, and a boardwalk that extends all the way around the Lands End peninsula.

The Lands End beach is wide, beautiful and (because it is at the end of the island) usually sparsely populated. Our condominium overlooks the "bay" side - the waterway that divides Treasure Island from St. Petersburg Beach.  There is interesting boat traffic during the day and the twinkling lights of the city beyond at night. The Lands End peninsula is quite narrow at this point so the walk to the beach (and the sunset) takes about a minute.

Once through the gates, Lands End feels like a world apart. But civilization -- restaurants, delis, convenience stores, etc. -- is less than a mile away.

St. Petersburg is about fifteen minutes away and Tampa another twenty minutes.
